that is the first prelim schedule...the spring is good but the fall has to be tweaked to accomodate the BC race...the holiday season is over so this should be sorted out ASAP...

I think it is important not to shorten the season on the island. I am sure the racers all look forward to alll the events, we are lucky to be able to hold 20 rounds on the Island. If the clubs are finding economics a problem for the fall rounds please consider why the club is in existence. I think the goals are to provide a facillity to ride and race at for most clubs. We must remember all but one club is non profit on the island, the clubs are not bussinesses that have to make profit to survive, they need to make enough money to operate and reinvest into improvements on the tracks. This is done by holding events, and by sponsorship. By not holding the 20 rounds we loose full utilization of our tracks, cut race and track time for the racers which is not an option in my opinion. Please reconsider getting back to the full series and let BCMA know the provincal rounds conflict with our Vancouver Island series and can they reschedule. Thanks

ya,I guess a club has to really rely on memberships to stay afloat when your only holding 3 or 4 races a year

why no double headers?, it makes sense for most of us cause most of us are there all weekend anyways who wants load up a truck and trailer for one night , saves time, travel, gas, ferries we all love motox but it nice to have some nice weekends at home instead of rainy winter/spring weekends.no bitch just curious it was nice last year to get two races in one weekend then you could have every other weekend to go boating or whatever.

Double headers are nice for some, and I like double headers on long weekends because it makes them something different but not everyone can/wants to give up an entire weekend, every weekend, to racing. I found I didn't want to bother with it because I couldn't do the entire series. Also, I know there were concerns with fatigue for both young and old, making the second day dangerous. And there is the fact if you crash or have a mechanical on Sat., you are probably out for Sunday round too. But who knows, maybe the schedule for the fall will change. |

bikebums,
i'm 34, pretty busy with work, 2 kids and a family life. still make it to some races and plan to do the series this year. i raced as a kid for 8 years and spent every weekend from spring to fall racing in ontario, quebec, new york, the off to florida during the winters. spent two weeks in tennasee at loretty lyns as well, it's all about the fun and seat time. -------------------- #176 kx250

I agree absolutely 100%!. You're away the same amount of time anyways.... Get there Friday.. setup, Saturday practice, then race Sunday...unless the race is in your area. No difference whatsoever...except hitting the racers more in the pocketbook. -------------------- |

No difference whatsoever...except hitting the racers more in the pocketbook. I guess the Victoria crowd does that every weekend, but many mid-islander don't. I get up Sat. morning, do chores around the house, go to my local track for some practice/seat time, then come home and pack up. Then I watch a movie that evening with my family and get up and drive to the race Sun. morning and put in a good, hard day of fun racing. I'm not saying everybody has to do that, but I also don't think you need to live and breath it every weekend, all weekend. I put in my seat time also during the week (I probably ride at the my local track more than anyone). A good compromise would be half of each IMO. |
